Retention
Your orthodontic treatment does not end when the braces are removed. The final stage of your treatment is called retention.
During this stage, you will use a retainer to prevent your teeth from shifting back to where they were before braces.
There are different types of retainers. They could be fixed to your teeth or removable. It is very important that you follow your orthodontist’s directions on how to use and take care of your retainers.
Even after your treatment has completed including the retention period, your teeth will eventually start to move. There is natural tooth movement that occurs throughout your life. Wearing your retainers after the completion of your treatment will help preserve your beautiful new smile.
